To change or fill-up the brake fluid ?

When the brake fluid is low, can I just fill in the new fluid ? Or must drain out the old fluid then fully replace with new fluid?

The current situation: Brake indicator flashs once in a while, I am aware of that the brake fluid is low.

Don, but someone told me I "SHOULD" entirely drain out the old fluid before add-in new fluid, so I am confused. Can you clarify that? I will respect what you "expert"'s opinion.
