I donated through Canadian Red Cross too. To make sure that I didn't donate to the wrong organization, I double checked the Canadian Red Cross website. This is what I found:

Should donations supporting a specific Red Cross disaster relief and recovery effort meet the amount required, the Canadian Red Cross will cease collecting donations for the response and will communicate this information immediately to the public.

But I do agree that probably the money donated through Chinese Embassy, HK Red Cross and China Red Cross would arrive faster.

虽然加拿大捐了一百万，但数额不大，不能说明真的把大家的钱都捐给中国了。到底有无克扣，克扣多少，有无把我们的钱转给别的地方，一时恐怕难搞清楚。咱们华人不管白领蓝领，都是打工的。没有人在决策层，所以到底有无黑幕，一时难以搞清。
我的一个建议是，尚未捐给canadian red cross 的同胞，暂时等一下。现在灾区最需要的是物质和人手，这点我们都帮不上忙。现在已经有不少人捐了款，我们先看看加拿大后续的捐款额，看看有没有黑幕再决定。如果实在不愿等，先捐一点直接给国内，这样比较保险。昨天在街上，看到路口有人募捐，一看盒子上写的是haiti。 想起来海地前一阵子好像有抢米潮。但这哪能和我们地震的苦难相比！我的钱有限，没有能力帮海地人民，我的钱可不能让canada red cross 转给海地去了。

救灾要讲科学，所以条件不允许，空降部队不能轻易往下跳。捐款也要讲科学，要找个比较可靠的办法。
另外，大家的心愿都是一样的。同胞之间讨论问题要冷静。就像空降部队不空降不表明他们怕死，暂时不捐款的同胞也不是不爱中国。所谓谋定而后动。

一队加拿大志愿医护人员于昨日获得中国政府发出签证，目前正由温哥华出发，在上海转机前住成都。他们将是首队加拿大参与中国四川省地震救灾工作的救援队。

加拿大医疗救援队(Canadian Medical Assistance Teams)

加拿大医疗救援队的计划，是于未来12周内，派出4组人员轮流在灾区工作，换句话是每队人员只能留在灾区工作3周。(

加拿大医疗救援队是一个非政府和非宗教组织的义务组织，所有经费都是由私人募捐，而筹得的款项将百分百用于服务，连志愿医疗人员去灾区的旅费，亦是每一个人自己承担。
