I have sent the letter to The Honourable Diane Finley
Minister of Citizenship and Immigration

The Honourable Diane Finley
Minister of Citizenship and Immigration
Ottawa, ON
Madam:
I applied for Canadian citizenship on November 4, 2007.
There's a discriminatory element in the examination process of citizenship applications which I do not understand at all.
I would like to know why the process of examining applications in Quebec usually lasts between 2 and 2.5 times longer compared to other provinces.
There are statistics on the following site:
http://www.v-soul.com/casedb/view.html which confirms my assertion.
That means that if I lived in Ontario I would already be a citizen of Canada today!
I will have to wait perhaps another year because I was selected by Quebec and I live in Quebec.
Who can explain these reasons of discrimination of people living in La Belle Province?
What can you do to reduce the examination time in Quebec to 6 months as it was before?
Yours sincerely,
Igor Nikiforov
P.S.
The copy was sent to “The Globe and Mail”

I call on all those who have submitted an application to receive Canadian citizenship in Montreal or those who are going to submit it to write letters in regard to a very long waiting period to receive citizenship in Montreal.
Write letters to press, to the deputy, to the Minister. When there will be hundreds of such letters, the ministry would not be able to ignore this problem. Call your friends to do the same, publish messages at forums.
If we do nothing, the waiting period will only increase.
Many of us have already waited in vain for 16 months and more ! |
