The "Clear the Air!" theme is about the positive outcome that results when a vehicle owner retires his or her older car. It's about recognizing that a car that contributes a disproportionately high amount of pollutants is better scrapped than driven, and that doing so provides an immediate and significant return in terms of cleaner air. When a member of the community participates in the Clear the Air! scrap-an-old-car program, they are keeping their part of a vital social contract.one that promises a cleaner, healthier environment to live in. As a theme Clear the Air! is active and positive and evokes ideas of renewal and of a fresh, clean start.
The "Clear the Air!" project is administered by the Association québécoise de lutte contre la pollution atmosphérique (AQLPA), an environmental group dedicated to promoting public awareness on air quality issues.
