这是一个 挽留现有Bell客户的计划=为了挽留现有客户 而提供的折扣(~-$2.5 or ~-$10/mth.)。
=Retention Program ~= Promotion

* There are different discounts for Phone and Internet, I only know the phone part, NOT Internet.
** I'm talking about basic regular land line phone.  Cheaper VOIP phones are available, check for yourself.
*** I don't use any option such as Call Waiting, etc.  but don't think it's relevant

****  Program offered by Bell may CHANGE any time, please check for yourself ****

Benchmark/Comparison ~基准/比较

1. Bell Basic phone: $19.95+ $3.46(911++)=$23.41+taxes=$26.38
2. Primus Basic phone: $19.95+ $0.40(911)+taxes=$22.97
3. Rogers - I don`t like their NETWORK charge, never bother to look.  Check yourself at www.Rogers.ca
4. Mobile Phones - Pay as U GO @$10+tax/mth.  (This is one of the options I tell Bell that I'm considering)

***  Primus Broadband phone requires lots of bandwidth, problems.  NOT what we're discussing ***

How to get there?

The Bell [color="Red"]?? department used to be call:
1.  Custom Retention Department, then
2.  Loyalty Department, then
3.  "Disconnect Home Phone" Department (my last call in March, 09)

Call 310-Bell (same# to get to Bell, just +your area code), when Emily(=automated voice system) starts say "CANCELLATION", then u will be transfer to the ?? Department.  

Tell them . . . . .  123abc . . .  ~u want to cancel Bell Phone . . . . .

What's being offered?

Your choices/options:
1) No contract: Savings = $25 + $5x3 = $40*
vs.
2) 1-year contract: Savings = $5 x 6 = $30***
vs.
3) 2-yrs. contract: Savings =$5 x 12 = $60***

* $25+$5 discounts in 1st month's bill, the balance of 2x$5 deducted in the 2nd+3rd months
* My $5 discount show as "omo Home Phone Package 3 mths"
* If u don't mind calling once every 3 months(=超+超级麻烦的), u get $40/3=~$13.33/mth. discount.  Sort of 啦!

*** the monthly $5 discounts are taken off 1st->6th or 1st->12th months accordingly.

EXTRA: 3 additional services FREE for 3 months

When I first got the discounts in March 2008, the agent offered 3 additional services, free for 3 months. I turned down the offer right away.

For the last few times, I can't recall agents offering that. In case any of u have gotten something similar, [color="Red"]remember to cancel at ~end of 3 mth(I'm not sure if u need to give 30 days notice).  U don't want to see the additional charges on month 4th.

Possible Catches

* per recent reply, there seems to be non of the followings, however, u may want to watch out *

1.  After getting discount, I need to give Bell 30 days notice when I leave Bell.

I can't quite figure out the above, e.g. if I switch to Primus, Primus will not give Bell the 30 days notice that's required for my account. Well, for myself, I'm prepared to pay Bell 1 extra month when I got my credit+discounts.

2. Price of my basic line increased ffom $19.28 to $19.95
My bill: Lingne de residence $19.28 => Home Phone Lite Package $19.99

3.  Expensive LD plan: under the Home Phone Lite Package, there are 2 additional lines:
- "Residence line"
- "25 cents a minute feature" (=long distance plan)

My Experience: 4 times, got $95 credit + $40

* I still don't understand the whole thing, following are my experience *
1) March 26, 08 -  Retention Dept. - $25(4/08) + -$5x3(4-6/08). [color="Red"](1st time)

2) July 22, 08 - Loyalty/Promotion Department - $-$25(8/08) +-$5x3(8-10/08) [color="Red"](2nd time)

3)  Oct. XX - Loyalty Dept. - the girl tried (-$40 again) but too early to put new set of credit on system.  Suggested me to call again few days before Billing, i.e. ~end of month for me.

4)  Oct. 30 - Loyalty Dept. - the guy was in bad mood, told me he couldn't continue to give me credit.

5) Nov. 19, 08 - Loyalty Dept. , girl said 3 months $18.41.  I didn't want to continue talk talk :frown:, assumed that there will be -$25 at the end of 3 months, MISTAKE.  Only got -$5x3, total $15 only. [color="Red"](3rd time)

6) March 17, 09 - Called 1-866-623-3922  .  .  .  transferred to "romotion Dept", another -$25 +-$5x3. [color="Red"](4th time)

Closing

If I had asked for the $25 discount in my 3rd time, I would have got a total of $120 for the ~12 months period.  On my phone bill the $25cr is shown as "Offer-Home Phone Package".

I still don't fully understand the whole thing and won't be on the web as much in the following months.   The best I can so is to share all the information with u.

p.s. For myself: if any of u have the old $30 Primus phone+lite internet and will be leaving town, please contact me, PM or eMail.  I hope to see if I can transfer that.  The current price for new customer is $35(+taxes).

新装Bell的住宅电话13.41 + TAX

I still don't understand that offer, apparently it's for Videotron customers switching to Bell.  Details @ http://sinoquebec.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=613805

Reminding those who're contemplating to install Bell: [color="Red"]没有初装费.  Tell Bell that Primus + Rogers don't charge Installation Fee, see if u can talk them to waive that $50 of Installation Fee.  Have Fun!!

最终明白了!!

The $25+$5x3=$40 discounts over three months are given AS IF you're new customer to the HOME PHONE LITE PACKAGE.  However, they gave the promotion to me 4 times in the last 12 months.  

Someone asked the question before, the answer is "u do need to enable your long distance in order to get this promotion."

Under this package, if u make any Long Distance call, it's $0.25/min, PLUS $1.95+T network charge.  I called direct to US for ~1 minute and it cost me $2.20+T :p.
