大致明白了,2个各挣4W的单身和一对各挣4W的夫妻到手的钱是一样的
但是一对各挣4W的夫妻(或者单身)的收入要高于一对其中1个挣8W另一个不挣钱的夫妻
就是4+4>8+0

If both of you have the same income (say 40K), you two will have almost the same net income regardless of the marital status, because you have to file your tax returns separately anyway.
Now, if both of you make 40K (80K in total) as singles, but only one of you have a total income of 80K after marriage/cohabitation, you two as a couple/common law will have less net income as the tax rate (beyond 40K) is higher, the applicable transferrable tax credits from the spouse with no income being taken into consideration.
You should be able to easily figure this out if you have ever filed tax returns. Hope this will not in any way sway your consideration of getting married. |
