翻看了几页,有疑问:
1.公校的IB program 和私校有什么区别吗?
2.国际中学和一般公校的IB program 有可比性吗?

It is said that a lot of Chinese kids go to private school, but  some of my foreign friends prefer their kids go to IB program in public school.So i am curious for that.

In your opinion,which one  is better ,to go to a private school without IB,or go to a IB class of a  public school?

It is hard to have one answer. I believe that both top private schools with or without IB and public schools with IB are good choice for kids. As to my family, we choose public IB program for our daughter.

Yes, now many Chinese families sent their kids to private schools. Because the first the tuition fee for private is really not so high and affordable compared to the English schools and other places; we come to a new country mainly for the kids, otherwise most of us have already a good position in China, so pay some money for kids in education is "reasonable"; as a immigrant, we don't have lots of networks for kids when they face to their job market, so strong education background is more important for them in their future; and Chinese tradition is much more emphasizing the education.

As lulin said, private schools with or without IB are similar qualities, according to the school rank published.

Public school with IB are good, but as my knowledge on the students, in this case you need to pay more attention on the study of the kid. For sure, it is also depends on what kind of kid you have and how much time you have to take care of your kid's study. I have some students are in those kind of IB classes, I really think they need more motivation and hard work in their study, compared to the private schools - usually lots of homework and tests in the schools. If it is a good student, then I can even say no much difference whichever school he/she goes.

And also I understand that each family has its own situation. Some are just in paying their mortgage for house and cars, some are single parent, reality should also be considered in making the decision. Indeed, they can do some compromise action in this choice.

At last, both the private and the public school chosen are reasonable under different individual situation. That is why I make suggestions individually to each family - kid's study, character, family situation....

主要是校风。

除国际公立中小学之外。他们校风相对好些。

不然教师把精力用在管理次序上，上课时间就减少。质量就下降.......。

I really believe that a good high school is very important for our children's future. Currently, most of parents select schools basically based on the ranking. For sure, I do believe that if kids can study in the high ranking schools, they can get better education.   

My concern here is that most of these schools have very strict school police. It is good to have a higher displine standing for kids but I am wondering if these school can also provide a friendly environment to  encourage students to have  free thinking and questioning spirit.  Also I want to know if students can have enough time to develop their personal hobbies after finish the school assignments.

For parents who have kids studing in the top ranking high schools here , can you please say something about how satisfied and how happy you and your kids feel in the schools? In average, how many hours do your kids to take to finish their school assignments each day? Can your kids have at lease 8 hours to sleep every day?

把这个少有的长贴从头翻看一遍，居然也用了不少时间。
不过4年前，大多数私校还少有中国面孔，如今已经是各班都过1/4强了。2008秋季入学估计更多。无论如何，这个帖子估计帮助了不少同跑。

I have two daughters, they both go to the public elementory school. Hoestly, i dont reallythink they learn so much, the school atmostphere is good, but I dont think the school teach them a lot. It is ok.

I visited some private daycares for my son, a lot of them are just put foucs on the money, so have to be really carefully to look at what they are going to teach, and also what the foucs is at the school.

By the way, I am planning to send my son to a daycare (preschool.I come from Hong kong and married a Canadian man, I want my son not only learn chinese, but also English and French well, any ideas where should I send my sons to?
