Some disturbing images from inside the kitchen at the [color="#8b0000"]Montreal General Hospital have come to light.
Cockroaches, expired food, moldy pipes, dust accumulating around ventilation covers and grease-encrusted stoves.
Paul Thomas, president of the union representing kitchen workers at the MUHC, blames the dirty situation on budget cutbacks at the MUHC.
Meantime, Francis Collin with the union representing dietary technicians at the MUHC says workers have been complaining about the situation for a while.
A worker inside the kitchen who asked to remain confidential also called CJAD to say the MUHC has been cutting down on cleaning staff for some time. "Bob" says they barely have enough people in the kitchen to keep the place clean.
Terrence Meehan, Director of Logistic Services for the MUHC tells CJAD he was very disturbed when viewing the photos, and said he wasn't aware of the problem. Meehan says as of Monday, an outside team will conduct a full audit of all six MUHC kitchens. |
