I guess you guys are all trapped in the Chinese community too long. Choosing a suitable university is only part of game, not the whole scenario of your life. If you are happy in a less reputed university, there is no bother at all! To study in an excellent university is not a privilege, different schools have different criteria, academic result is only one factor among other things.Even George Bush did his MBA in Harvard(or Yale?). Obama also admitted that before he was accepted by Harvard, his overall grades in a California university were not good enough. There are a lot of parameters to measure if you are successful in life. Academic life is only a fraction. Unlike the Westerners, the Chinese values are pretty much based on Confucianism, which polarizes social hierarchy as the privileged and the less privileged--the imperial examination was an only criteria of selection of the so-called talents, and the format doesn't change in modern China.
I guess You guys have to ask yourself the questions: how much do I know my own culture? How much do I know the world beyond Chinatown, or Mainland China!!! How I wish you guys have the guts to say: I'm no more China centered, but a cosmopolitan man who accepts diversities. Otherwise we (including me) are all bunches of maniac and losers
