朋友准备2012年1月登陆,是否可以2013年首次报税?另外,如果他和他太太想作为非加拿大居住者身份报税,需要的条件是?谢谢!

1. yes, they may file their first income tax return in 2013.
2. if they live in Canada less than 183 days (less than half year), they can claim non-resident tax status.

IF they will stay here from Oct.1 to Dec.31.2012, how could they claim being non-resident?

Also, it is another story if they will have many ties with Canada.

i just answered this question in a simple and general way.
Ya, for non-resident status, you gotta apply it to CRA.
Less than 183 days and has no significant residential ties with Canada.
You have to pay tax for Canadian sources only, not your global income.

If you are a resident, you gotta pay tax for your global income.

And, I just said "they can claim non-resident status", I did not say "They are non-resident".
