标题: 相约在舞会
各位朋友：您好！
朋友俱乐部在广大朋友们的长期支持下已迈入了第五个年头。几年来，我们在坚持为大家建立一个健康高雅的娱乐交友场所的同时接纳了朋友们的积极建议，改善了音响设备(现采用美国顶尖专业音响)和专业舞曲(部份来自朋友们的热心提供)，并经常有资深舞蹈教师现场指导、领舞。
今天，朋友俱乐部越来越受到社会各方人士的欢迎，成为我们华人紧张工作学习之余的一片健身放松联谊交友的绿地，不断有新朋友加入我们舞会的行列，逐渐形成一支以老朋友为主的基本队伍。为了让更多的新移民、留学生知道我们，我们在“蒙城华人” 网站的支持下将在每次舞会前在此发表舞会消息，请朋友们垂注。

一，朋友俱乐部舞会消息
本次舞会时间3月12日(星期六)晚上700-1200
7:00-8:00学跳国标舞由资深教师Andy执鞭
8:00-12:00大型交舞会(备有舞会上所有舞步的舞曲)

二，朋友俱乐部舞会预告
朋友俱乐部从3月份起将在每个月的第二个星期六举办一次舞会。
上半年舞会的具体日期为3月12日、4月9日、5月14日、6月11日（均是周六）。

舞会入场券：每位4$。参加7:00-8:00学跳国标舞者加收2$象征性地作为老师的报酬。
朋友俱乐部地点：2295，St.Marc (Rue SHERBROOKE 转角，地铁GUY－CONCORDIA站，ST.MATHIAU 出口）。三楼《朋友俱乐部》大厅。

I would suggest to play music or song that is not too long.
In one of the parties, I once heard a piece of Viennese music that is over 6 minutes long!

Some discussions were made about the music of friend club's parties on another thread.
I hope the club can take that into consideration.

Hi Helloman, I did pratice my steps a bit there with my friends but I didn't have a chance to dance with the girls. Just my own opinion, the musics were a bit uninspiring and too many songs for 快三 in a row. Also, the music, for example, for ChaChaCha dance was a bit too old and slow. I myself like old Chinese musics too but sometimes we need to put some new inspiring musicss,especially like ChaChaCha, Rumba,Merengue,Salsa, Merengue and so on. Combination of old and new songs is always the best to change the atmosphere on the dance floor. I always hope that Friend's Club can do successfully and attract more dancers or dancelovers like us. I believe that many people will have the same feeling as mine. By the way, Helloman, are you one of the organizers or a friend of organizers? Were you there last Saturday? Thanks

I am not associated with the organizers.
This Friend-club-organized activity
is one of the very few, if not the only, regular social dance event
that is organized by and for the Chinese community,
so I really hope that it can do well enough to become an interesting destination for most of us.

As for the music selection, yes, I agree that it is a bit weak.
It is not that they don't have a good collection,
because in the past, I've heard some really good songs in the parties.
Maybe the DJ can't really distinguish the hot numbers
from the sleep-inducing lulloby.
I think the organizers should do some house cleaning of their dance music collection before the next party.
In each dance music category, for example, ChaCha, Rumba, swing, etc. identify and rank the songs from "Wow", to "hot", to "what's this !", to "never mind".
If they don't know enough to decide,
then they should consult the people who dance often for their opinions.
Another rule is "don't play 2 songs of the same dance consecutively".

I hope they would read the posts here
or someone who know them can pass the words.

I am an average Joe.
I blend well in a crowd, so you probably wouldn't notice me
even if I were in the party.

Anyway a few of my dancing friends will be there next time.

Thank you two for the good suggestions about the dance party.We try our best to work harder for the music.Our problem is someone likes this kind and someone likes that kind.So sometimes it's a little difficult to meet  the requitrment of everybody.We try to have an improvement for the music and Please let us know if you have any good CD.Thank you again!

Hi Helloman and Li Lian:

Glad to see that we have party each month. I went to the last several parties and I found the music was good and improved a lot. I definitely agree with Li Lian's point of view that it's difficult to please everybody since some like Latin and Western music (Cha Cha, Rumba and so on) and other like old Chinese music. Nothing's wrong with that since we all have different preferences about music. I would say that we have two groups of dancers. One group learnt western social dance here and the other learnt social dance somewhere. I think it's natural and beautiful no matter what styles they dance, just that they learnt from different places. Even students learnt from different school dance differently too. So as my previous posting mentioning that it's better to combine the music together and people can learn from each other if they want or they can dance whatever they like. Another issue is that some of my friends say that a few individuals don't have proper dresses and shoes when they come to the party. I think they are right. To make the dance floor more attrative, it's better to dress properly and neatly. As I went to a few ballroom dance floors in Montreal, I saw many people dress nicely. By the way, Helloman, will you go to the party this Saturday? If yes, we could meet and say "Hi" to each other and also to the organizers. Thanks

I already have other plan for the coming Saturday,
but I will definitely squeeze in a visit to the party
to at least dance a few numbers.
I know of a few rather decent dancers planning to go.
Sure, we can all say "hi" on the dance floor.
