申请CONCORDIA的ECONOMICS MASTER，今天收到学校邮件说我被系上推荐到研究生“GRADUATE DIPLOMA ECONOMICS”，求助各位大虾，急切想了解有关信息。
1、“GRADUATE DIPLOMA ECONOMICS”是怎么回事？什么时候能拿到MASTER DEGREE？
2、CONCORDIA的ECONOMICS MASTER PROGRAM怎么样？
3、ECONOMICS就业怎么样？
4、本来已经打算从本科开始修课，再申请好的学校，突然被这意外的消息砸中，不知道是否应该接受。请问，进去后，一边读一边申请更好的学校或者换PROGRAM有可能吗？

好象diploma是没有degree的，光是读diploma是不能拿到master的。好象是在入学以后，如果第一学期的必修课程超过一定的分数的话，可以转成master吧。但是concordia可不可以这样我不是很清楚。但是大多数学校是可以的。

As far as I know, diploma is also a kind of degree, I would say it's more like a prerequisite nowadays, especially for students that are not well acknowledged by the recruit committee. They may think you have the potential to pursue a Master Degree, but a little risky.

I think you are asked for 3-4 courses, say, 501,503,521, these three for sure, possibly 525 included. If you can do a good job in this program, usually that means you get A- for average, you will be accepted by the MA program. Sometimes the requirement is not that strict, but anyway, no guarantee unless you fully satisfied the requirement.

If you do think you have a very strong background regarding the requirement, you can ask for exemption of all these courses or some of them, but please take a careful consideration before you do that or negative effect come.

Department of economcis in concordia is very good though the reputation is not very high, look at their faculty list you will know what i mean.

When we talk about job-seaching, it depends on if you are able, eh?

The last question is a very good question, to be honest, it is hard for me to answer it cause that will be decided by your interests and your confidence.

1、我是ENGINEER背景，没有ECONOMICS的经验，所以准备老老实实上课，不去想什么EXCEPTION。自我感觉数学功底还不错，在本地修过几门ACCOUNTING的课，不知这样对付501,503,521, 525够用不？A-，:rolleyes: 怎么听着高得有点吓人呢？如果这四门课没有A-，是否要到DIPLOMA课学完后才能转到MASTER PROGRAM ？
2、我想学比较数学的那种，就是比较强调QUANTITY ANALYZING、统计方法和数学模型的那类，不知哪些ECNOMICS研究方向是这样的？就业前景怎么样呢？是否FINANCIAL ECNOMICS要用很多数学的？
3、仔细看了FACULTY LIST，好多教授的背景学校很好啊，就纳闷为什么CONCORDIA ECONOMICS的REPUTATION 不高呢？
4、说到换PROGRAM，是因为看到有些学校MATH&STATISTICS DEPARTMENT和ECNOMICS DEPARTMENT中都有QUANTITY ANALYZING和 FINANCE的方向，我现在还不太明白它们之间有什么不一样，哪个系最适合自己，故发此问。但不知道转成功的可能性有多大。

1, It depends on your background on mathematics and economcis that if you will feel tough to get A-,  if you can not make it,  that does not mean you have no chance,  that just means no guarantee for the transfer or upgrade or whatever you call from diploma to MA.

2, The education in the department of economics is very mathematics based, or we can say it belongs to the most quantitative programs. As for the field, I think it's too early for you to concern that.

3, Actually economics in concordia has a high reputation, but not very high, maybe due to this is concordia .  When you take a comparation with the same deparment in Mcgill, you will see what I mean.

4, Well, basically there is little difference between the same field in economcis and in managment school, for example, finacial economcis, they share a lot of comman features. Admission is crucial, isn't it? The possibility of your transition depends on your background, please hold a private evaluation.

Oh...k, that's it.  It should be enough for your reference.

1、从DIPLOMA转入PROGRAM时，或者以后需不需要GMAT或者GRE？ 从网上没看出来需不需要，但确实知道其他学校有的要，有的不要。
2、"As for the field, I think it's too early for you to concern that", 那按PROGRAM的要求，一般什么时候决定CONCERNTRATION和导师呢？
3、不知这个DEPARTMENT的资金实力怎么样，以后的FUNDING是否丰厚啊？
4、能否留个E，以便以后讨扰？

1, I do not think you have to submit a GRE or GMAT for the transition. However, GRE is a positive support.

2, Uou have a director already, he is the director for all MA students. Regarding you field supervisor, technically, he/she is just the supervisor of you graduate paper, you are supposed to choose that after you completed all courses requirements, but most of the students start to think about it after they finished half of even more of the total courses.

3, As for the funding, I do not think you can get it being a MA student unless you are really excellent. Anyway, you can apply for TA or even RA, that makes money.

    我的想法跟你很相似,不过我选择的是先读mathematics的本科,把基础打好,因为我听我的同学说这边无论是economics或financial engineering 都对数学的要求非常高,是国内的工程数学本科远远不能比的.
