西岛那家fu Lam不错.好象还准备在原来st. Laurant的vichy那再开一分店,vichy那家关门了.
Fu Lam有即炒的面.粉什么的,挺有特色的. Are you saying that the Vichy near Place Vertu in Ville St-Laurent is closed?
I am not surprised.
I tried it a couple of times last year
and I always found the meat too tough and dry.
The La Standza buffet nearby on Marcel Laurin street
is better than that Vichy.
If fu Lam is going to open in the old Vichy location,
then I'll definitely give it a try.
In my experience, the best buffet that I've ever had
was in a restaurant called "Le Rustik" in Chateaugay.
Unfortunately it was closed a couple of years ago.
At the time the buffet was offered once a week,
and only on Sunday evenning.
Apparently the Sunday evening buffet was very well known among the locals
as it was always packed.
It costed $25 a head + tax + tips.
It was a bit more expensive than the usual
and there were maybe only 30 choices.
The quality however was superb.
The food was delicious.
The lobster cream soup was heavenly
and I could have just eaten the soup alone bowl after bowl.
My friend loved the cold salmon salad.
There were also some other great seafood dishes
that I've never heard of as of that moment.
I was only too happy to try them all
but at certain point I had to leave some space for desserts.
Now you need to know that I am a big fan of desserts.
I've tried many cakes, custards, mousse and pudding in my life.
I know what I like and recognize a good thing when I see one.
The dessert table that nigh was among the best that I've ever seen.
These were not miserable, little pieces of standard buffet restaurant cakes,
that look different with different icing but basically taste the same.
These were full size 12-18" cakes of all kinds,
such as strawberry cheese cakes, thick black forest cakes, perfectly baked apply pies, baked pudding cakes, rich chocolate cheese cakes, refreshing lemon mousse, carot cakes.
There were also some wonderfully light and very buttery crossants,
soft and yummy cheese danishes.
Each one of them was made to perfection.
How do I know?
I know because I've sampled a small piece of each and every one of them.
I wish I could've tried a little bigger piece
but I just didn't have space in my stomach.
My mouth still waters this moment
when I think back about that evening.
On top of that there was musical entertainment by a 2-person band.
The female singer sang quite a few pop songs beautifully.
I manged to dance a coupe of times with friends that evening.
All in all, it was simply a marvellous night out.
Sighhhh......What a woderful time. |
