一中国女学生在蒙城游泳池溺水身亡

据“蒙城华人报”记者报道，来自中国山东的留学生兰凌云，于本月14日（星期天）去蒙特利尔Verdun区的Gadbois Centre 游泳池游泳时，不幸溺水身亡。

本月14日中午，兰凌云与朋友一起去Gadbois Centre 公众游泳池游泳，在长25米、宽10米的池内游泳时不幸溺水，在场的救生人员边抢救边呼叫911急救车，在送到医院不久便证实死亡。经过警方和医院对遗体检查，确认死因为溺水意外。

在接到兰凌云意外溺水身亡的报告后两小时内，中国大使馆领事处李锋秘书和教育处黄勇秘书二人迅速驱车从渥太华赶到蒙特利尔。他们到达后不顾旅途的辛劳，立即投入工作。经验丰富的李锋秘书边了解情况边与警方、救护医院和律师联系，并不断向大使馆领导汇报，表示出中国大使馆对此事件的极大关注，和对中国留学生的关心，以及对死者的深切同情。他要求蒙特利尔警方尽快对事件做出调查并将验尸结果通报中国大使馆和死者家属。

兰凌云于今年3月21日来蒙特利尔自费留学，3月25日通过考试顺利入读Concordia大学语言学校。来加拿大仅21天即遇难身亡，实在令人痛心。死者的家属已经接到通知，在中国大使馆的协助下，正在办理来加拿大处理兰凌云后事的签证。

中国大使馆李锋秘书通过本报呼吁，希望留学生注意自身安全，增强自我保护意识。希望大家能够在这里平平安安，你们的父母等着你们平安归去。

Something wrong in the news. Lan Lingyun had been Montreal only 24 days not 21 days. The swimming pool is located in St.Henri. She is only 27 years old. There are only 40 people in the pool at that time, and four lifeguards on duty. I do not know what were these lifeguards doing on the duty. If you read the the Gazette (Lifguards acted 'to letter', on April 16, 2002), you will be very angry with spokesman's explain. It is realy unbelieve that she could be dead, as I got information that she know how to swim, she has no any health problems. There are only five deaths in Montreal pools since 1997. She become to six deaths. What I think is that the lifeguards may not follow procedure to whatch swimmers. They found her at the bottom of pool is too late.

don't blame the administrators. there were four of them on the scene at that time, far exceeding what is required.to most extent, it is herself who has to take the blame.  
the lesson is that if you don't swim well,never take chances. to an amateur the deep end of swimming pool is the same of deep ocean, especially when you even don't know how to seek help in danger.
i feel sorry for her and her family bbut also dumfounded .i wonder if she just wanna commit suicide there. seems that she had no the least lifesaving skills
