This problem can occur when opening a folder in Windows Explorer on a drive using the FAT32 file system.
Solution:
move some of the files from their current location to another folder.
If this works very well, then done!
If not, try this:
The real problem maybe have to do with the "MY Documents Folder" and other "System Folders".
The My Documents folder has a unique operating structure, and if you place too many folders in it then it 'will' affect and cause the slow opening of all folders in your " My Documents" folder or in some cases on your entire HD. ( Note the same holds true for other special folders like Favorites)
Solution:
Edit the My Documents folder desktop.ini file.
There is a file called "desktop.ini" right in your "my documents" folder.
You can't see it in explorer because it has the attributes hidden and system.
WINDOWS makes this special file disappear because they don not want you to see it!
(even if you have windows set to show hidden files!)
Windows Explorer will not show these files, but windows file Find will.
To see these files Open My Computer and right click on your C: Drive and select FIND.
Enter desktop.ini and hit Enter.
You will see several desktop.ini files. Look for the one located in your "My Documents" folder.
Make a new file called "desktop.ini" in another folder. Create it with notepad and leave the whole file empty! If you try to copy this new file into "my documents" you will be asked if you would like to replace the old desktop.ini! You should answer with "yes".
FINALLY, MAKE IT "READ-ONLY" BEFORE YOU REBOOT YOUR COMPUTER. |
