I knew my camera quite well and I don't trust my camera measuring totally. I know when i have to over or under expose a bit and try not to have problem in editing. Never used the +/- button on camera.
Just think about the situation: you have a tanned bride in a white dress with a black groom in a grey tux. Camera will be "KOOKOO" if you meansure the light on anyone's face.

I used camera mesurement, but won't totally trust it, so i can over or under expose a bit for god sake. M doesn't mean you have to measure everything by yourself. I think it is the same as you use AV plus +/-, I don't think it can save you time though. Just i am old fashion, won't trust the machine like you and don't like a lot of editing afterwards.
That's all about it. I am happy using M, you are happy with your AV.
like #102 and horse bottom, very interesting shots. you are getting better. At least you work with depth of field now and some photos make me laugh. So that's improvement.
