why so quiet here?

let me say something new.

today, fmchen and i take part in the match of can-am montreal. we join stratified pairs contest. the 1st session is in the morning (10:00), and the second session in the afternoon (3:00)

we failed in the morning, ( fall behind sun shan)
but we got successful in the afternoon.

we got A 2/3    B 2   C 1  in C section

and C 2 in total (a b c d e f g 7 sections)

we gain 1.68 red points and we can get a t-suit as a prize.( we forgot to pick up, tomorrow to take)


can-am montreal is very big bridge activity, a lot of players come from usa and other parts of canada. it is a great fun!

i was excited by this so strong hand.

how to bid? sure 2C, LHO bid 2NT,and RHO not alert. my pard fmchen pass. RHO pass too. i bid 3S after thinking down them 2 tricks in dbl was not worthy, thought may be we have slam, at least 4S we can get.

three of them passed, i regret for not bid 4S directly!

i still was in regretting mood, i ruffed diamond leading, play Spade A and K, west showed out in second round, i thought i must have a trump loser, 2 heart loser, 4S still in hand. i switch to lead Club A and k, west showed out in 2rd round too. up to now i waked up we only had 3S, my mood changed from regret to feeling lucky. the play was easy because opps bad defence, finally we made 3S+1 contract. we were in top.

Thanks very much, Laoxi. That's an unforgetable match! Let me say: It's not easy to beat so many good players coming from all over the North America.


A little more info:
1. There were more than 80 teams (All are very Good teams from North America) played last Tuesday's suiss team. I saw also many teams in Yesterday morning's KO matches and of course only one half of them in afternoon, and maybe most of the eliminated players came to afternoon's stratified pairs matches.

2. There is a swiss match in next sunday. However I amnot sure that we could make a team to participate it. It's not cheap: 30$ per person for 2 sessions (8 rounds) for ACBL members, +4$ for non ACBL members.
    I am ready to pay it. Simply Bridge is a most important part of my life.

Thanks to my pard u chosed a correct unbeatable contract.6S could be 1 down by leading heart and ruffed  heart return.

East opening lead S6. Your K won, cash club A and K, discard heart 2. Now you cross dummy with diamond K to run dummy's long spade suit and you discard all the hearts and 1 club. When the last spade squeezed both of them, west must keep club
throw adiamond, you throw unuseful club,east must keep heart A, your  two diamonds would be good.

Squeeze play is very complicate and interesting bridge technique. We should learn more.
