I'll be touched if some lady bring her kid to my classroom, not to say a gentleman. Although it is somehow rude to ask the professor stop the lecture because of his quarrel with another student, it is understable and can be treated as a light-hearted detour as long as he didn't insist on it.
What I dislike are the disrespect and loud, popular criticisms from his fellow chinese such as losing our chinese "face". I, personally, dont think his act by any means cause any loss of my Face. His act is normal although could be better. Everybody should mind his/her own behavior but should not use his/her own norm to judge others. Havn't your guys see more ridiculors behaviors of non-chinese in the classroom? Did their fellow people feel the loss of their Face? Did they lambasted their fellow citizen like your guys? By what means you guys have the right to ask your fellow chinese to behave in order to save your Face? Where were your kindness and passion when you guys saw a chinese man brough his kid to the classroom?
Last, I really despise some of the young Chinese kids who lambasted some of mid-aged chinese immigrants for their rough clothing and tough life here. Did you buy shiny clothes and enjoy beers in pubs with your own money? If not, it is you who should be despised. If there is any chinese who lose my face, these young kids do. |
