that means your tv is ntsc mode only. most dvd players from china can play ntsc or pal media, all you need to do is flip mode switch botton on your romote controler.
easiest solution: get rid of your old camcorder and buy and minidv or microdv camcorder. with the digital format video, you can make your home video with background sound, great edit capacity and cristal clear pictutre quality.

Since I can change the play mode of my DVD player(yes, I brought it from China because as far as I know all the DVD players here 都锁区了）from NTSC to PAL and my TV do show the video, does it mean that my TV support PAL?
I prefer DC than DV, 'cuz I don't think DV is 100% digital 'cuz it still use a sort of tape and that's why I still don't care for DV now.

If you can watch TV in Montreal, your TV at least is NTCS TV. You should be able to find "NTSC" in your user manual(Specifications Section). If you want to palyback your old type recorded by your PAL video camera, just connect it to a multi system TV. We also have a multi system VCR for sale. Please visit:Jtech Electronics

Well, I checked it out again and there is no specification this time. The TV is Sharp CN27S10 and VCR is Sony SLV-N77. I've called sony to confirm already and I will call sharp on Monday.

Suddenly found the JVC HR-A698U in futureshop is the only Multi-System I've found. Does this multi-system mean both ntsc and pal format?
BTW, how about its S-VHS function? What is it exactly? I noticed that it is the only one with this function so far and cheaper than my sony SLV-N77. :confused:

Remember that about 12 years ago we had VCR and TV with both NTSC and PAL systems in China. How come North America gets itself isolated from the whole world that much??? :confused:

when wang8 was a teenager, he used to play with videos for more than 5 hours a day (that's precompuer age, not bbs, no irc, no www...). i am sure very few ppl in MTL know dv better than wang8 do.
