我去年圣诞去古巴，网上买的package，一周1300刀左右，四星半，海边hotel，所有都包，除平时自助餐外，还包括三顿晚饭a la carte，其中一顿是新年晚餐。比旅行社便宜。但是最好早点报名，差一分钟就可能没位置了，而且提前可能有打折。也可以买last minute，但是时间上得不到保证。

4 or 4 1/2 star hotels are good; try to avoid anything lower than 3 or higher than 4 1/2. Anything higher than 4 1/2 may not have many young people...

anyone ever tried any youth hostels in Cuba? any comments?

Cuba is not like any country in USA, Canada or Europe. Even if there are youth clubs/hotels, they are certainly not recommended for plenty of good reasons.

The organised group vacation looks ok, if you cannot leave before December 24.

I just booked the Cuba trip to Holguin (less than 1300$).
3.5 star hotel and all inclusive package. Because a lot of people say that in winter time to Varadero maybe is a little bit cold for swimming, so I chose more south destination in Cuba.

Last Christmas I took a vacation at Holguin at a 4-star hotel for only less than $600 all inclusive including taxes.  The weather is almost the same.  Take some sweater with you just in case.
