以前的windows的root权限没那么严格。现在没有root权限很多软件都装不了。

没有安装亚洲语言支持，是找不到中文地。

我以前就去找头儿说我要看中文,头儿在一张申请安装软件的表格上签了字,然后找管理员安装,装的什么忘了,好像是NJSTAR VIEWER,自己是没什么办法的,大大方方的,不让就算了,张口三分利.

There are hundreds of PCs in my working unit, some of them are MS WindowsXP, the others are Linux. The systems are upgraded frequently, I can't ask them each time. This is also the fault of Microsoft, because the default installation does not intall asia languages.

Thanks for the Linux, the Chinese fonts are installed, so I can read and input(use some of web base software) Chinese.

But Ms Office and office under linux are not fully compatible, if I want treat some Ms documents(personnelly use), I need Ms Windows. I ocassionally receive Ms Doc in Chinese.

Any way, I can do it at home. I merely want to know the possibility to install some kind of Chinese fonts or viewer without the root access.

Since you do not have the administrator priviledge, there are two ways:
1. Think of an indispensible reason and ask the administrator to install asia language support.
2. Use remote desktop to connect to your home PC.
