看了那里的评论,知道了某些加拿大本地人的推理方式。俺回贴如下:
As a Chinese immigrant in Canada, I have learnt so much today from some posts here. I found the reasoning below very enlightening.

"When we refer to China, we refer to the Chinese government, which is the Communist Party of China."
Next time when people ask me where I originally come from, I should not answer "China" as this word might be narrowly interpreted to exclude the Chinese people, and indicate that I am from a government or Party instead of a country.

"YY-DNA, I found that CanadianProgress ideas were a bit extreme too, but if you were him, will you trust people who agree and justify genocide, oppression with lies?"
Clearly, if I am pro-China (Chinese people), I am pro-Chinese government or the Communist Party. Therefore, I can be taken to agree or justify genocide and oppression, and I am an accessory to such crimes of human rights violation. I cannot speak as a member of the Chinese community that is distinctive from the Chinese government or Communist Party.
Following this reasoning, you can understand without difficulty why the overseas Chinese around the world start to protest against such biased opinion recently.

"Government of Canada and its people admit that the head tax imposed on your ancestors when they applied to come here was wrong and the issue had been properly addressed, I assume. Has the issue of invading and genociding in Tibet been dealt with in a world class manner yet?"
The head tax was first levied when the Chinese Immigration Act was introduced in 1885. The official apology and compensation was offered by PM Stephen Harper in 2006. It takes 121 years to address this historical problem.
The Chinese government "invaded" Tibet in 1959. By 2008, only 59 years have passed. According to the Canadian model, the Chinese government still has more than 60 years to solve a historical issue. Please do not tell me that I am wrong. |
