For those of u who don't have cars, recommend following:

- Sunday Oct. 12,
- Departure: 10am
- Gare Lucien l'Allier = 1290, rue de la Gauchetiere West (cross street de la Montagne)
- Return: 5pm from Rigaud train station

Special once a year ~ 1 hour train for Riguad festival, www.festivaldescouleurs.com

Buy your train ticket over the phone at 514-287-7866
Adult: $20
Family (4 persons) $60
Kids (0-6) : Free(=$0)

Those of u who has car can drive there yourself, festival start Oct 11, end Oct. 12.

Cheap Hotel at $59+ tax near beach (enter Maine + Portland @ http://www.travelocity.com/ and u will find it, only one)

Takes about 6- 8 hours to drive to Portland from Montreal.

Reminder: there may be long line up at US boarder, good luck and have fun!

Now is a little late to book for 感恩节, but info for future vacation:

If u are over 50 and has no car, single or couple, check out:

It's sort of like a package tour to Saint-Donat, including bus from Montreal. Activities and meals all included.

We'd like to go to the sea, besides Portland, does anyone has any suggestion? Could be a weeklong.

We are not going to Boston, nor Florida, nor the Maritime(=NS/NB/PEI).

How to drive there? there is no detailed address.

There are many pages on the web site I quoted, see if u can find a detailed address. It's a small town anyway.

I used http://maps.yahoo.com, enter both Montreal and Rigaud, Quebec and got followings:

Distance: 42.70 miles Time: 46 mins

* Starting in MONTRÉAL, QC on RUE BERRI go toward AV VIGER E
* Turn Left on AV VIGER E - go 0.3 mi
* Take Left ramp onto AUT-720 O toward AÉROPORT P.-E.-TRUDEAU/AÉROPORT MIRABEL/AUT-720 O - go 3.3 mi
* Take exit #1-N/AÉROPORT MIRABEL/AUT. DÉCARIE/SAINT-JERÔME onto AUT-15 N - go 4.2 mi
* Take the AÉROPORT P.-E. TRUDEAU/OTTAWA/GATINEAU Left exit onto AUT-40 O toward #70-O/AÉROPORT DORVAL/AUT-40 O/AUT-520/HULL/OTTAWA - go 33.6 mi
* Take exit #12/RIGAUD - go 0.6 mi
* Turn Left on CH DE LA GDE.-LIGNE(RTE-342) - go 0.1 mi
* Continue to follow RTE-342 - go 0.7 mi
* Arrive at the center of RIGAUD, QC

Re-do above and u will see the map, east of Hudson(outside Montreal Island). Have fun!

Believe it's called "~Tourism Quebec", most likely u can ask for more ideas for short trips within Quebec. Duck festival, ?? festival, etc.

I don't remember their web site, search yourself. Only remember their office below St. Catherine in Square Dorchester. Walk south on Peel/Metcalfe, there's a big information office at (NW)corner of Metcalfe and the little street south of St. Catherine in downtown.
