If you haven't taken lesson from an instructor,
then learning from a dance instruction DVD is very difficult.
In couple-dancing, it is not just the step patterns that you need to learn, but also the techniques of lead and follow.
Dance instruction DVD can give you step patterns, but not the techniques.
I have seen couples dancing fancy moves but looking awkward
because the subtle transitions and signals of lead/follow are lacking.
Dance instruction DVD would work as a supplement if you are already learning from a qualified instructor or already have a solid proper dance foundation.
In other words, it works as a side dish but not as a main dish.

对跳舞感兴趣的人还不少，可怎么就看不到一个中国人？Salsateque, 649，Cactus，Salsa Et-Cetera。除了我带去的几个女朋友和一个不认识的卖舞鞋的女孩外，没有看到其他中国人。但在Verdun河边，看跳舞和试跳舞的中国人倒是有所增加。

拉丁舞对中国人来说较难，但不是不可学。以上地方，都有免费教授，但是，要买饮料和啤酒支持酒吧的运行。

我01，02年教过Salsa，03年在一个中文学校交过一期，可是，大陆中国人都不参加，最后是两对香港人，一对台湾人，两队南韩人和一个柬埔寨的姑娘是我的学员。一期后，由于工作忙，没有继续。

以后有时间，可以免费教感兴趣的。

Salsateque  是San Tropez 学校的舞场， 据我所知目前在该校打造 Salsa 的中国人大概有8-10个人，除一人学完 Advance III以外， 其余的绝大部分都在 Beginner 班， 如果他们这些人真正喜欢拉丁舞坚持下去，在不久的将来，Salsa 地平线上将有一小部分中国人出现。

去Verdun 的绝大部分国人还在继续思考要不要去学校学，有的完全指望现学现用：这就是两三年来中国人看跳舞的人多，上得了场的人少的主要原因之一，第二个主要原因是愿意学舞的男生少的可怜。 那么多女生就是学好了都没有男生同她们跳，可能这是她们缺少动力的原因。

不管什么原因，我的体会是如果你真正喜欢跳舞，无论是 拉丁还是 Ballroom,不去舞蹈学校接受正规打造，那么再过5年，跳舞的水平还会停留在目前的水平上，甚至更差， 不进则退。649 那种免费课是学不会的，没有套路，更没有复习， 我试过几次，是绝对的浪费时间， 至少对男生来说是如此。

欢迎你出山教课， 可以召集一部分人， 租个地方，然后分摊费用，剩下零钱替你买两杯 Ice Cappuccino   不过我没时间加入， 已经在 San Tropez 学习
