When Can You Stop Using a Child Seat?
Child Car Seat... When Should You Change?
Under the Highway Safety Code, in a moving road vehicle, children whose sitting height is less than 63 cm (measured from the seat to the top of the head) must be restrained by a restraint system that is suitable for the child's height and weight (infant seat, child seat or booster seat).
Infant Seat
An infant seat is suitable for children who weigh less than 9 kg (20 lbs) or who are under 66 cm tall (26 inches).
Child Car Seat
This type of seat is generally suitable for children who weigh 9 to 30 kg (20 to 65 lbs) and who are 66 to 102 cm tall (26 to 40 inches).
Booster Seat
A booster seat should be used by children who weigh 18 kg (40 lbs) and over.
It is not necessary if the sitting height of the child in question is no less than 63cm. It has nothing to do with the age.
