Expert,
Yes, but where? Hell or paradise?

Dear Feifei,

I won’t launch my journey unless I have a kind of idea of my destination…
By the way, never heard there are some rascals in the paradise.

An explanation of my email name:

My email name “lilypan007” causes confusion and misunderstanding, which needs to be clarified. I would like to consider here its origin and meaning and why I keep this name, focusing on the last part of the name--“007”.
I admit that my choice of 007 derives from my favor of the main character of “007”—James band. But it is a lesson to me, which I should never forget…and that is the reason I keep the name—to remember my lesson.  I write a short essay for it because I must get busy with my final paper now. I wish I had expressed myself clearly.

cafe,

You are probably right. So I amend my criteria as follows: 35-45 years old, have once been married (ONCE), have 1-2 child(ren). I am not sure I could be a good wife but I am sure I can be a very good mother because I love kids very much. I am serious and I know it’s not easy but I am doing what I could do, don’t make fun of me because i respect all you as my friends.
I post a short fiction about my life here so you can know more about me. It is my assignment for the next week. If there are some mistakes, please correct them for me. Thank you. My professor asks us to use ironic tone and modernist style (modernists represent the way characters thought. They think that people do not think in sequential, logical, or chronological ways but much more as a sort of free association of thought. This is what many modernist writers attempted to capture in the novel and they called it stream of consciousness narration.)

Frenchmania

“Excusez-moi, est-ce que c’est la bonne autobus pour aller à l’Université de Montréal?”
“Oui, Madam.”
….
I don’t remember how many times I ask the same driver the same questions and get the same answers. I’m not crazy or an imbecile. I’m learning French. I look around the bus and find a seat near an old lady and begin to read some texts. When I come across the first problem, I turn and begin my conversation with the lady in French.
Well, I would like to tell you a little about myself. I came from China last year and I live at 2840 Salabery, Montreal. My neighbor Mr. Jimmy is a warm-hearted, helpful, middle-aged man who finds every chance to chat with me since the first day I moved here. He tells me he came from America, his father came from India and his mother is from Germany, he’s very fond of Chinese girl and he even want to study Chinese. Then, my French course begins.
When I immigrated here, I stayed in Toronto. There I met Daniel, a young man who came here from Colombia four years ago, at a bus stop. I worked in a Japanese restaurant as a waitress and I made a lot of tips. I saved every dime, dreaming about the day I would be a millionaire. Unfortunately, a friend called me from Montreal and asked me what I was doing. I considered my future and came to Montreal; the first thing I have to do is study French. Here is my story.
One morning, to my surprise, I see Mr. Jimmy waiting for the bus. I am extremely delighted to see him. I want to say “Hey”. I open my mouth but I find I can’t. I almost say “Bonjour” but I know Mr. Jimmy dose not speak French. I swallow my words and smile. Mr. Jimmy stands besides me and says that he has a French course too and has to take the same bus. I fully trust him. He is a little embarrassed, however.
A middle-aged woman sits alone; I go forward and sit besides her. And Mr. Jimmy is embarrassed again.  I take out my text and begin to read. However, I find that I can’t concentrate on my text. Last night when I checked my message box, Daniel said: “Hi, Lily, how are you doing all these days? Why you don’t call me anymore? I still remember when you worked at the Japanese restaurant; you called me everyday after you finish work. That’s such a good time. If you receive this message, please call me back at 416- 8534234.” I wanted to call him but it was too late.
If you don’t love the French grammar it’s because you’ve never approached it. It’s beautiful. There isn’t anything so precise, so strict, and so logical. It’s perfect. I’m crazy about French grammar. One night I read a French grammar book and I almost finished it when I suddenly found it was day-break. I looked at my watch and it was 5:30 in the morning! I went to bed immediately but I was too excited to sleep. I got up at 7 o’clock and went to the university. Consequently, I got 100% in my final exam which was about the pronoun and the difference between “imparfait” and “passé compose.”  It was very difficult. I got a shock when I saw the notes…. I almost miss my stop and when I get off the bus, I see Mr. Jimmy looking at me, curiously.
Anyway, I seldom see Mr. Jimmy waiting for the bus or hear him speaking French. Whenever I meet him I address him: “Bonjour” and he answers me “Bonjour” with English accent and walks away hurriedly. He has changed a little because he used to be very talkative.
Mr. Jimmy moved away before I finished my French course. He moved away on July 1st and I finished my study in the end of October. Where is Mr. Jimmy now? I wonder. I think of him sometimes. He is a very nice person. That’s why I’m telling you this story.

人生就是一场缘。有缘千里来相会,无缘对面不相识。
为什么定那么多的条条框框把自己绑在里面。
祝好运!
