Invisible Q Bids

Used when your side opens the bidding with a suit and opponent overcalls a conventional cue bid showing a 2-suited hand.



Invisible Cue-Bids serve two purposes:

1.    Tells partner about your hand

2.    By bidding one of the opponents known suits you disrupt their bidding sequence.

  

Invisible Cue-Bids apply to all two-suited overcalls, the most common are:



Michaels



Colorful Cue-Bid (variation of Michaels)



Higher Suit Cue-Bid (variation of Michaels)



Top and Bottom Cue-Bid (variation of Michaels)



Unusual NT  (Note: The Unusual versus Unusual convention is identical to the Invisible Cue-Bids presented here).



Roman Jump



Astro.

  

Cheapest Cue-Bid Available

By making the cheapest cue-bid (not lower ranking) available of a known enemy suit you show a limit raise or better (10+ points) of opener’s suit.



You have: AQ4   9873   A762   T3

The bidding goes: [ 1H  (2NT)  3C*.....the enemy makes an Unusual NT bid showing clubs and diamonds. Cue-bidding the enemy's club suit shows support for hearts with limit raise values or better.



You have: KJ7   874   K8762   A8

The bidding goes: [ 1S  (2S)  3H*.....the enemy makes a Michaels bid showing hearts and a minor. Since hearts is the only known suit, your cue bid shows spade support with limit raise values or better.



You have: J95   A93   AQT7  843

The bidding goes: [ 1D  (2D)  2S*.....the enemy makes a Colorful Cue-Bid showing the black suits, your cue bid shows diamond support with limit raise values or better.



Non-Cheapest Cue-Bid Avaiable

By making the non-cheapest cue-bid (not higher ranking) when both enemy suits are known, shows at least 10 HCP and at least five cards in the “unbid” suit. Responder indicates a “forcing bid in the fourth suit”.

The bidding goes: [ 1S  (2NT)  3D*.....the enemy makes an Unusual NT bid showing clubs and diamonds. Cue-bidding the enemy's diamond suit shows a “forcing 3H bid”.



You have: 7   654   AJT954   AJ3

The bidding goes: [ 1C  (2C)  2S*.....the enemy makes a Michaels bid showing the majors,  Cue-bidding the enemy's spade suit shows a “forcing diamond bid”. If you had bid 2H you would be showing a limit raise in clubs.



Double

Double shows at least 10 HCP and suggests defensive strength. This is analogous to a redouble of an enemy takeout double.



You have: KJ97   5   QT754   A97

The bidding goes: [ 1H  (2H)  Dbl.....the enemy make a Michaels bid showing spades and a minor. You alert partner that opponents may be in trouble.



You have: A87   KJ75   AQ3   987

The bidding goes: [ 1D  (2D)  Dbl.....the enemy makes a Top-And-Bottom cue-bid showing spades and clubs. The double is the correct action on strong balanced hands.



All Raises

Single raise of partner’s suit shows 3-card support and is constructive (6 – 9 points). Jump raises are preemptive.



New Suit Bid (A suit not promised by the enemy)

Bidding a new suit, one that is not promised by the enemy, shows a 5- or 6-card suit and a maximum of 9 HCP and is not forcing.

  

2NT or 3NT

Bidding 2NT or 3NT indicates a stopper in the suit (or suits) shown by the enemy and is not forcing. This suggest an offensive type of hand, often with a fit for opener’s minor suit, or a source of tricks of your own.

The bidding goes: [ 1C  (2C)  2NT.....the enemy makes a Michaels bid showing the majors. Your 2NT is invitational to 3NT; the club fit makes it undesirable to try for a penalty.



Showing An Enemy Suit

Occasionally one of the enemy’s suits happens to be your own long suit. You must not bid that suit, either pass or double then clarify at your next turn to bid.



You have:  AJ9854   93   87   QT7

The bidding goes: [ 1D  (2D)  Pass.....the enemy makes a Michaels bid showing the majors. Don’t bid 2S now. Chances LHO will bid 2H, after which you can balance with 2S.



You have: AK4   KJT974   985   J

The bidding goes: [ 1C  (2NT)  Dbl.....the enemy makes an Unusual NT bid showing hearts and diamonds. You smell a rat, but be patient. On your next turn you can bid the hearts suit naturally.



Invisible Splinter Bids

Any jump cue-bid of a known enemy suit shows a game-force raise of partner’s suit with a splinter (singleton or void) in the suit bid.



You have:  KJ75   AK83   T652   3

The bidding goes: [ 1S  (2NT)  4C*.....the enemy makes an Unusual NT bid showing the minors. You are making a game-force raise in spades and show a splinter in clubs.



You have:  A97   void   AQ9843   9853

The bidding goes: [ 1D  (2D)  3H*.....the enemy make an Astro bid showing clubs and hearts. You are making a game-force raise in diamonds and show a splinter in hearts.

GSF - Grand Slam Force - 5NT

Used when 4NT Blackwood has not been bid. Used as a trump asking bid. Usually, controls in all suits are accounted for and the only question is the quality of the trump suit that will determine whether to bid a small or grand slam.

  

Simple Respones:



Bid six of the trump suit with less than 2 of the top 3 trump honors.



Bid seven of the trump suit with 2 or 3 of the top trump honors.

  

Advanced Responses:



6C* = 0 top honors



6D* = 1 top honor



6H* = 2 top honors



6S* = all of the top honors

Trump Asking Bid

A jump raise to 5 of the agreed major suit is asking partner to bid 6 of the agreed suit under the following prioritized conditions:

1.    Opponents have bid a suit and neither you or partner have cue-bid that suit. Bid 6 of the agreed suit with an Ace, King or void in opponent's suit.

2.    Or, when you and partner have bid three suits. Bid 6 of the agreed suit with an Ace, King or void in the unbid suit.

3.    Otherwise, bid 6 of the agreed suit with good trumps.

  

What Are "Good Trumps"?



If You Opened the Suit:



A strong holding would consist of something better than 2 top trumps Thus, AKJxx is strong, AKxxxx is not, AKT98 probably.



If your holding is “strong” bid 6 of the major, otherwise pass.





If You Supported Partner:



A strong holding would consist of at least 2 top trumps.



If your holding is “strong” bid 6 of the major, otherwise pass.

Sandwich NT

Purpose is to show a weak two-suited hand after both opponents have bid two suits. You bid NT in the "sandwich" seat  [  (1D)  Pass  (1H)  1NT* ]. With strength and shape make a Takeout Double instead.



Your NT* overcall is Sandwich NT and shows with the two unbid suits. Let partner choose a suit if your side is to preempt or sacrifice.



If your hand is strong with defensive strength make a Takeout Double instead of bidding NT thereby informing partner that you have shape and strength. If you make a Takeout Double and then bid NT you are showing a balanced, true notrump-type hand with 17 - 19 HCP with at least both opponent's suits stopped.



Requirements:



Weakness (less than a solid opener, usually less than 13 HCP).



No defensive strength



At least 5 - 5 shape.



Opponents must have bid two suits, not only one.



May be bid by a passed or unpassed hand.



May be bid at the one- or two-level.



If partner makes a responsive notrump bid of any level, he is asking you to pick the suit.



Examples:



[ (1D)  Pass  (1H)  1NT* ..... shows Clubs and Spades with shape but not strength.



[ (1D)  Pass  (1H)  Dbl ..... shows Clubs and Spades with shape and strength.



[ Pass  (1D)  Pass  (1S) ] : [ 1NT* ..... shows Diamonds and Hearts with shape but not strength.



[ Pass  (1S)  Pass  (2C)  Pass ] : [ 2NT* ..... shows Diamonds and Hearts with shape but not strength.

Snapdragon Double

The Snapdragon double is a double by advancer when his partner (overcaller) and opponents have bid three different suits, such as:  [ ( 1C)  1D  (1H)  Dbl* .....  this would be Snapdragon.

  

Double shows 5+ spades, 6+ points, and at least tolerance for partner's suit (such as king doubleton). Bidding 1S instead of doubling in the above auction would deny diamond support. By sacrificing the low-level penalty double, Snapdragon helps a partnership discern whether there is a trump fit in two suits. It is also handy when advancer has full support for partner but wants to check for a major-suit fit. Snapdragon is on through 2S .

很抱歉在网上粘贴太多的英文让大家看得眼花缭乱. 可能也不太系统. 欢迎提出的批评.

本人以为, 满地可华人桥牌圈攻防水平固然需要提高, 但我们中的多数人叫牌技巧还停留在自由泳风格. 不知道如何, 也不知道还能不能进一步提高. 我在想, 既然大家可以花许多的时间打桥牌, 为何不可以坐下来仔细研读一下某个堂堂正正的叫牌体系, 被视为超级精确的现代2/1也好, 还是魏先生的传统精确也好, 或者蓝梅花, 大梅花, 波兰WJS200弱开叫体系都不赖. 假以时日, 熟能生巧, 相信我们大家都会漂亮的蛙泳, 仰泳, 甚至踩泳姿式. 打桥牌也将会是更有趣味和更精彩的业余活动.

1. 仔细阅读Mannheimer 2/1 Agreement, 熟记其中的每一个细节. 对里面不熟悉的约定叫和处理方法, 可以回到Conventions和Treatments部分, 进一步深入了解. 比如大家平时自觉习以为常的也是最基本的排除性和否定性加倍以及Michael扣叫, 还有逆叫, 跳加叫和新花跳叫, 攻(lead), 跟(carding)和垫(discarding), 在Conventions和Treatments部分, 大家都可以很方便地找到正确而准确的定义和用法. 鼓励(attitude) ? 张数 (count) ? 还是花色 (preference) ? 也有明确的区分.
我个人意见, 可以考虑将其中的简单逆Bergen, 换成优势更明显的高级逆Bergen. 有兴趣的朋友还可以将其中的标准跟牌法换成UDCA加Lav花色信号.  另外, 保留Capp对付弱无将, 增加DONT对付强无将.

2. 要熟悉现代2/1体系的中心思想, 还必须反复推敲systems部分里的"The Two Over One Approach"和"Summarized Bidding Sequences".  1NT逼叫，2/1, 新低花逼叫，快／慢达原理（Fast/Slow Arrival), 牌型是现代2/1体系的奠基石．比如，开叫一梅花后，十二HCP为界，手持四张高花，五张方块，是应叫一级高花呢，还是一方块? 现代２／１的答案是，十二ＨＣＰ以下，叫一级高花，十二或以上ＨＣＰ，叫一方块！还有，应叫２／１后，开方无逆叫！
