The Internal Controls Specialist is responsible for analyzing & evaluating current internal controls & establishing and creating new more effective internal controls. This role will involve testing controls, documenting current processes and procedures, writing & implementing new policies & procedures as well as performing financial & operational audits.

Job Responsibilities:
2 C( m6 Z2 r# p AThe Internal Controls Specialist will have the following responsibilities for all company’s affiliated and sister companies :

: ]+ X( b2 k& [+ |. G• Develop and update corporate wide Policies and Procedures manuals required to support internal processes, audit, internal controls, accounting regulations and standards as well as compliance requirements
% z& A8 P9 E5 L0 ]" f- u: _• Support Corporate Finance and the business units in the Accounting Regulatory compliance efforts, analyzing impact of new accounting standards, integrating acquisitions, and administration of corporate-wide finance policy and procedures.
/ i* G, p% T! C% }& Y1 s! `, N• Monitor changes to Corporate Compliance regulatory policies and ensure local procedures are updated to reflect current requirements
' W( ~& g" [, [4 N7 v) }• Ensure adequate controls to support Accounting regulatory compliance by evaluating the company policies9 p; t$ C" b( ^0 d: p6 x, Z q' e
• Prepare detailed audit plans & programs that explain the extent of the work to be performed for operational and financial audits, the audit program that will be applied, and the frequency of the audit reports that will be submitted.
" D8 Z* d! h2 M# A8 |2 E• Provide support/project management for any other related audit and compliance programs/initiatives. Communicate with external auditors about accounting regulation requirements.
; w6 U5 V2 D" R* N• Identify and document areas of potential control weaknesses in order to mitigate risk within the organization.
% P `- k/ ?' T3 s& a' z• Identify inefficiencies & security issues & propose solutions to these issues
& r L& S8 U7 w• Responsible for identifying areas for process improvement.
% t$ ~" u) ?4 `: G* J• Ensure adequate controls to support Accounting regulatory compliance by evaluating the company policies
* q! L# m" H7 e) u• Work with the business unit controllers to communicate and quantify the impact of changes in accounting standards on the organization.4 E% e" @0 l+ j4 c0 I; O
• Communicate & train employees, decision makers & business units supervisors on new policies & how to apply them' M% I: [" L5 Q% N
• Responsible for completing segregation of duties analysis.6 \1 `, P# o2 n$ }3 y& \1 M
• Maintain internal control software.0 `1 r/ g$ R8 q: k( Y, A/ r
• All other related responsibilities as required

& m2 h6 Z$ y; l8 W" h. a" B5 P* e3 o
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or other related or equivalent degree
' o! T- F8 v, ?( \! P4 k; c/ Y• 5+ years of related experience (Internal or External Audit, Internal Controls/Sarbanes-Oxley, Regulatory Compliance is an asset)9 T* m. r6 I' r+ A1 |* R! ~& [/ o4 _
• Experience in identifying and documenting system process flows, risks and control points.4 I z0 T% ^8 s6 U
• Must have excellent oral and written communication skills in English

• Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, adapt well to changing priorities to meet deadlines, and work on various initiatives concurrently. ; V$ U; Q8 f: C0 s0 E6 `2 M0 q7 E5 ]
• Ability to work in a flexible environment where requirements and procedures continuously evolve.
