12月7日星期一早上8：04，一辆向北行驶的运送一名孕妇前往蒙特利尔医院的救护车，因高峰时段的交通阻塞而不得不停在Jacques Cartier大桥上，车上的孕妇在这个时候产下一名男婴。魁北克安全局的警官Ronald McInnis称，孩子的父母给孩子起名叫Émile。

where did you read that from? the husband could have stopped the car before going on the bridge and it's actually the paramedics who were jammed in the traffic on the bridge while heading northbound towards Montreal.

i see the point you are trying to make is that traffic is not an issue for people living on southshore, at least not for you. i wish the parents of the newborn could think of the same, and be thankful to the traffic which made them frontpage of the news

i'm sorry but it's never going to be explicit like that, especially when you quote from a paramedic (neither do you when you talk, it's not like you are doing testimony or anything). after all, how much time do you think they spent to drive those 500m on a fully jammed bridge?

"But after get stucked for 30 minutes, because people dont' give way to our Ambulance,  we realized we weren’t going to make it,"

好多人不愿意承认也不愿意别人说自己所在的小区的缺点，可以理解。
不过champlain bridge 堵车是公认的，不承认也没办法，
有人说早上出岛和晚上进岛时封了一个车道所以我每天早上往南岸和晚上回来堵车，而南岸的人早上进岛和晚上出岛时不封车道，所以状况要好得多。
而我看到的事实确是大部分时候我上桥后的车速要比对面的快，因为在岛外住网岛内上班的人要远远大于在岛内注往南岸上班的。有关部门决定封一个早上进岛和晚上出岛的车道也不是拍脚后跟做的决定，是经过统计的。
是我天天从那里过，上班基本不堵，下班每次堵个10-20分钟我觉得是正常的，赶上有车祸或者下大雪，堵1个小时也  正常。已经习惯了，也许在那里住的人也已经习惯了，习惯了就不觉得堵了。即使坐公交也不能保证按时到家，一个在巴拿马公交站附近的朋友说，如果不用按时回家接孩子就没问题，否则可能经常会被幼儿园罚款的。
要说购物方便，134（taschereau）是什么都有，但是不是一个大mall，是分散的，买东西有一个地方一个地方的逛，在大冬天也不是一件美的差事。
再说环境，本来挺好的河景被高速路和桥被破坏了，而且整个brassard没有一个大的公园（要有树林和流水的），dix30有一个高尔夫球场，但是不是会员是不可以进的，而且没有树，夏天在那里也不舒服。
brassard的房价有些偏高了，除了中国人，往那里接盘的人不多。
说到地税，有人告诉我说越是好区地税越高，不知道是不是真的。

同意， 但其实我想说的不是桥不堵， 而是不是想很多人认为的堵得那样严重。
就像好多人都说过的那样，在downtown 上班的话做公汽是方便的，半小时左右。

要是大雪，恐怕哪里都不好过。昨天不知道是不是因为下雪，orange line中断， 我晚到家了
40分钟，因为到不了Bonaventure. 我的越南同事住downtown,在地铁里车上待了1小时10分钟。

主观上我有意识尽量保持客观，不能因为我住南岸，就说它perfect。我前面的一些贴子也主要是给出实测的数据，如果堵了我也会如实报告的。当然我只测了几次，只是"抽样数据", 可我从没说诸如“南岸好，南岸是天堂”之类的话。

上下班高峰期平均开车过桥时间大约３０分钟。如果你需要开车过桥上班，确实要考虑。有很多不定因素。

曾经开车３年到DORVAL机场附近上班，平均时间５５分钟。每天来回用在通勤的时间将近２小时，觉得受不了。

现在，每天乘公车市中心上班，平均２５－３０分钟，直达，无须转车，觉得很幸福。节约一个小时睡觉。

基本感觉南岸环境不错，中小学也有质量非常高的公校私校，购物也方便，体育运动设施齐全，没多少好抱怨的。;)
