Skill Requirements:
Education: Some high school
Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): Driver's Licence (Class 1 or A), Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Certificate, WHMIS Certificate, H2S (Hydrogen Sulphide Awareness) Training, First Aid Certificate, CPR Certificate, Air Brake Adjustment Certificate, Professional Driver Improvement Certificate
Experience: 3 - 5 years
Languages: Speak English, Read English, Write English
Type of Trucking and Equipment: Tractor-trailer B train, Liquid bulk
Type of Travel: Short-haul, Local, Provincial/territorial
Documentation Knowledge: Driver logbook, Bill of lading, Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip), Maintenance and repair reports, Trip reports, Accident or incident reports, Dangerous goods occurrence reports
Communication Equipment Experience: Citizens band (CB) radio, Cellular phone
Weight Handling: Up to 45 kg (100 lbs)
Specific Skills: Loading and unloading of goods, Receive and relay information to central dispatcher, Transport hazardous products or dangerous goods, Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment, Perform brake adjustments, Monitor vehicle performance and mechanical fitness
Security and Safety: Driving record check (abstract), Drug test
Own Tools/Equipment: Steel-toed safety boots, Hard hat
Transportation/Travel Information: Willing to travel for extended periods, Willing to travel overnight, Valid driver's license
