Say NO to Parti Quebecois !

(YOU ARE JUST KIDDING ME!!)

1,道歉与否其实无所谓的,因为那个家伙只是说出了代表那个混蛋政党的党纲的心里话而已;

3,魁人党当政,只能将这里的经济搞坏,使就业形势雪上加霜;

Wonder why other Asian groups (Canadians of Arabic, Indian, Filipino, Japanese, etc.) are not saying anything.

May is to be congratulated for her principled stand; it shows that there are PQ members who stand on principles of equality and diversity.

Calling Asians slanted eyes in ANY language is not acceptable. Talking down to or dismissing Asian people's concerns or objections is not acceptable either. - it is Respect 101. Racial caricatures and stereotypes, when normalized, will translate into acts and practices.

I am waiting for Asian American groups' response. And thank you for many of you who supported us, including our Aboriginal friends. We were bombarded by a lot of hate emails and calls - including some from two Vietnamese individuals who see nothing wrong with being called slanted eyes and who told me to «go back where I came from» if I don't like it here. The road to enlightened and inclusion is still long... but faith in humanity will carry us through.

CBC News

CBC News

May Chiu, a prominent Péquiste who was the first Chinese-Canadian candidate to run for
the Bloc Québécois, has slammed PQ Leader André Boisclair for using a French
expression that means "slanting eyes" to describe Asian students.

Chiu — who ran unsuccessfully for the Bloc in the 2006 federal election and is now
working on PQ candidate Zhao Xin Wu's campaign in Montreal — warned that Boisclair's
refusal to apologize for the comment would jeopardize the inroads that his party has made
with Quebec's Asian population.

"With one remark in two seconds, I think he has done a lot of
damage with the work and the bridges that these candidates
have built with the community," Chiu told the CBC on
Thursday night.

Boisclair spurred controversy when he used the expression
les yeux bridés (slanting eyes) Wednesday night in a
speech to students in Trois-Rivières, when he talked about
the influx of Asian students coming to study in North
American universities.

Chiu said Boisclair's reaction to the outcry following his
remarks revealed his ignorance.

"I think that you've got to be extremely disconnected with

PQ member and former Bloc

reality if you don't realize that calling people slanted eyes Québécois candidate May Chiu.
has been an insult to Asians for the longest time, and is still (CBC)
used as an insult."

The PQ leader refused to withdraw his comments on Thursday, arguing the expression is
commonly used in a non-derogatory way in the French language, and most Quebecers
would agree with its use. He also said he was amazed by the discipline and success of the
Asian students.

But Chiu urged Boisclair do his homework.

"He doesn't know the experiences of Asians in Quebec, the experiences of racial
minorities. If he thinks Quebecers will stand behind him, they will not stand behind a
remark which is so harmful to so many Quebecers of Asian descent."

CRARR CALLS FOR PQ LEADER ANDRé BOISCLAIR TO APOLOGIZE

COMMUNIQUé

CRARR CALLS FOR PQ LEADER ANDRé BOISCLAIR TO APOLOGIZE
TO ASIANS FOR HIS “SLANTING EYES” REMARK

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Montreal, Canada, March 15, 2007 – CRARR is calling Parti Québécois leader
André Boisclair to withdraw the racially offensive remarks he made yesterday at a
youth rally, apologize to people of Asian ancestry, and educate one of his advisors
about race sensitivity.

The following is quoted in today’s Gazette, when Mr. Boisclair referred to growing
economic competition from countries like China and India whose citizens move to the
United States:

“The reality is these countries are not just working to create jobs in
sweatshops. When I was in Boston, where I spent a year, I was
surprised to see that on campus about one-third of the students doing
their bachelor's degrees had slanting eyes.”

When CRARR’s executive director Fo Niemi discussed on the phone his suggestion
with a PQ media advisor who identified herself as Shirley Bishop, he was told by Ms.
Bishop that she saw nothing wrong with describing Asian people as having “slanted
eyes.” She also said in an aggressive tone, “c’est quoi le problème ?” and that it
becomes an issue because “des gens comme vous” make it a racism issue.

“I know Mr. Boisclair. He is very open and sensitive to racial diversity. It must be a
slip of the tongue that he made. However, I was shocked and very disappointed to get
a racially offensive response from one of his advisors because it just shows how some
people stil carry silly racial bias in 2007 and still don’t get it,” said Mr. Niemi.

“This sounds like the W5 Campus Giveaway episode again,” he said, referring to the
CTV program in the 1980s that talked about how “foreign students” took away places
from “Canadian students” in universities.

Last week, the ADQ had to fire two of its candidates for their racially discriminatory
remarks. One of the candidates talked about being “swamped by the ethnics.”
