what a speech!!!! well done.
your have my support for most of your reasonings, but a few things need further clarifications:
i guess we have different history books in hand: if i recall quebec history correctly that it is only indians who lived in this land until first french jacques cartier arrived in 1534. as per your way of logic, legitimately,we shall all speak offical indians language as they are the real owners of this land.
it is not true when you said :|"Quebec has achieved QUIETLY what all other nations are trying to achieve, withOUT wars and bloody revolutions". first, there were rebellions against british rule in early 1837 and 1838, then not long ago bombs, riots and kidnap in 60s. there are so many setbacks and backwards in the long history of their unrealistic struggling.
i do not have problems to learn french and their cultures, but i do have difficuties to understand their arrogance and conceited attitude. forget about how chinese think, it is a common attitude among anlophones, even some qecbecoies think it is in everybodys interests to drop sovereignism and move on. i am sure a new qebec will rise by then.
thanks for you sharing and i do beleive: ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country.

Well, to say that Trying to keep their language and culture by carrying out this policy with the power of legislation ON THEIR OWN LAND is going too far and is a joke, then imagine keeping Chinese language and culture in China would as well be a joke? Of course it is not a very good comparable, but the logic works dame well!
I can see that you might have found great difficulties in learning French language and adapting to their culture here, but isn't it an undeniable fact that people who CHOOSE to live in Quebec has already chosen to learn their language and adapt to their culture? If not, "TOUT SIMPLEMENT", too bad, they can CHOOSE another place to live. No?
We Chinese are here, chosen Quebec, its benefice, its "allocation familiale", its " Bourse d'études", its comprehension to the unfortunate situations of the social defaults, including unemployment, work injuries, its gentle love and care for the heaven born weak group and the handicaped. Quebec has achieved QUIETLY what all other nations are trying to achieve, withOUT wars and bloody revolutions! In Quebec, there was not a drop of blood shed! Isn't it intelligent? I DO NOT understand and WILL NEVER understand that all us Chinese come here from China and think that their fighting for their rights and power and achieving all these, AND their tolerance to NEW IMMIGRANTS, either giving them time or money for the adaptation to THEIR system which they had fought wisely to establish over the last decades, are going too far and they are jokes! Oh, yeah, oh ye, of course, they are going too far AWAY from US, eh? They are jokes in our black eyes because we can not see that the sea is blue and the sun is red(friendly sarcasm)?
So, all the Chinese here, no matter you voluntarily chose to come here or you are forced to be here by whatever reasons that might be, SHUT UP and Watch!
Shut UP and learn. Learn French, Englsih, Spanish, learn their cultures, ENJOY them, learn them with positive attitude, learn them with pleasure! If you are afraid to loose your Chinese culture, go visit China once a while to brush up new our memories! That is what the PROSPECTful Chinese should behave! And that is the ONLY way that Chinese will do well in Quebec and at any where!
There is a saying in French: people who do not change ideas are idiots. I hope we are not idiots, holding ideas that have been formed in China and STIIIIIIILLLLLL holding them fast and tight in Quebec, Canada!
Mr. M, French culture is so romantic and fine. If you learn French, I am sure you can feel their gentle and fine heart, their romantic senses and sensitivities, EVEN how they please their women...You feel that Confucius teaching hasn't given you anything useful concerning pleasing your wife, then HERE YOU GO! You are right in the good place to refine your senses and sensitivities about love and its ways! No?
Hugo, the greatest French writer in our human history, in his Les Misérables, Jean's soul was shocked by the forgiveness given by the Priest who told the police that it was himself who gave the silver utensiles to Jean, Jean's conscience woke up and he became a GIVER, instead of a TAKER!I DO NOT care who woke him up, the priest or whoever else, but I DO care the GREAT & INTELLIGENT realization of whom we should be, for what we should live and how we should live!
I watched this film when I was 17 and I watched it twice, once after another 6 hours in a roll! Each time with tears and thinking! That was in 1979! Hugo, he was french, an old time writer, YET, he wrote something that WOULD last forever and ever and ever!!!!! The realization lies right here in his novel: BE A GIVER, NOT A TAKER!
Give your thoughts, energy, give your heart and love, be smart, shup up and learn! Stop comparing, stop complaining, stop finding horse in other people mouths! ! That is the only way by which we are going to do well!
I feel happy every day, because I am lucky that I have learned how to appreciate life. Without this attitude of appreciation, life has absolutely no meaning and the world will become a mundane, a shit pit, a babel! I carry my heart in a fine way and I try to love and do little things for me and others!
I am not a science student, an arts one, I can never be a person like 扬振宁 neither! I can not live in any other place where I see people suffer and fall into desperate situations... I am not courageous enough to go back to China to help, because I know that I am a one-person troop with no power and no weapons! But at least, I can love myself, I can love people around me, and love people who are SINCERE and willing to grow together! At least I appreciate Quebec, Canada and I know that what I enjoy today came from other peoples suffer and love and intelligent effort! I know that Canada or Quebec is not perfect, so it needs us to build, NOT TO TEAR IT DOWN!
At least I love you all, Chinese here who are trying sincerely to see, to grow and to learn to love each other!
I do love all of you and that is all what I tell myself when I see people here cursing in bad language and attacking each other with mean attitude.
Please do take it seriously that we have only one life, each of us, each one of us! We'd better use this precious life to do things good, positive and constructive rather than fighting for who is right and wrong! Explain what you think, I am listening to all nice and great thoughts, I am seeing especially those who are kind and who are with love, because after all, Science without love for our nature, universe and human-beings is worth nothing! I am learning everyday from many of you!
Have a nice day! |
