What is rod bolt?  Why do we need to change it?  Where is Phi Garage?

To Jcell,

The rod bolt is located at the connection of the steering rod and tire wheel, it's function is transfer the turning angle from the direction wheel to the tires.
The rod bolt on the right side of my car was somemore loosen due to the longtime wear. If it is broken, there will be a big trouble.

请教Folks 大哥,我的一辆92 Ford Timbo 一直开的很正常,但前几天一场大雪后,一夜之间方向盘变的非常的紧,得用两只手使尽全力才能转动,检查power steering oil,小罐里还有油,请帮忙分析一下原因,并估计一下到车行修理的费用,谢谢!

Mostly the power steering pump driving belt.
The PS pump is oil sealed, cold temperature
does nothing on it,and it doesn't leak as u
said. So I guess it is ok.

Please check the belt and oil hose, they are
rubber! Make sure you don't hear teeth noise
when you turn the wheel, otherwise it's dead.
complete rebuild PS system should within $200,
anything more than it is rediculous

FOLKS, DonCherry和其他各位大侠.通过读您们的大作,小第学了很多车的知识.最近我家老马有些毛病另小第很心烦. 盼高人指点:

1. 我的车是1990的Honda Accord EXR  最近在低速行驶时(20KM/HOUR或15KM/HOUR),
从右后轮传出有节奏的轰轰声,高速行驶时就听不到了.另外车的滑行能力也不行,不给
油门车减速很快. 我自己查书怀疑是右后轮胎或右后轮轴承的问题.不知您怎么看?

关于这点,FOLKS建议我查一下刹车系统(半年前,前后刹车片和刹车鼓都换了新的),和传动系统.但最近几天和Phil Bailey车行联系都未约上APPOINMENT. 不知道象我这种情况在那检查是否收费,用不用做Road Test. 大致得多少钱能修好.

2. 还有D4挡启车时感觉没劲(D3挡启车还可以),加速换挡(自动档的车)特慢.同时油耗也大,百公里14/15升油.刚换的机油和前轮胎,空气filter也查过挺干净的. 为什么油耗很高哪?是不是老车没的救了?

3. 我买四个火花塞,准备换上,问"路坚"的师傅,他说换时不用抹anti-seize, 但有的人在DIY换火花塞时要用ANTI-SEIZE以防止高温烧结在缸上,到底有没有必要抹?

再一次盼望您们的高见.

>>roblem might be coming from Bearing. Try this:
  lift car use the lift for changing tire,
  turn the wheel fast enough and listen. If it is
  hard to turn, then you need adjust brake. Don't
  adjust yourself, you need some experience.

>> Transmission is too old, it is slower to response your
   acceleration, which means it "Down Shifting" is
   slow. Normally 14/15 is ok if you driving lot in town.
   Try do a transmission flush, better to use synthetic anto-tran oil from Honda.

Thanks in advance to all the experts here,

My car 1999 Honda civic, totay it is suddenly showed up with the indicator of "engine check", and after I drived back home, I even get some strange smell inside the car like something burned. and I open the hood, there is nothing wrong there and no strange smell. after several hours, when I restart the car, the "check" indicator is still there.

Can any expert help me to telll what is the reason and how to solve it?

You can go to the Honda dealer to check it by their specific computer. There are many reasons to your problem such as distributor, CAP , Thermostat, igniter.... Last time, I checked it out there and change the thermostat to solve the prolem. Good Luck. BTW the price for checking is around 69.99+tax.

According to your suggestions, I checked the braking system and bearings in CT today. Both of them are working well. That's for sure the noise coming from the two poor rear tires.

Since my car is so old, I'm reluctant to push more money in it.(I've changed two brand new front tires and it costed me over 200 bucks.) I just wanna keep them rolling or exchange these two rear tires. Is it a good idea?

In the meantime, the mechanic recommended me to change the "ball joint" of my right rear wheel. But the price ****s----"200$", I prefer looking around to get a better deal. The ball joint is a little bit loose now, last time another guy found the problem and used a big clamp to make it firm.
If I can't change it in time, it would be quite dangerous?

Just a couple of days ago, I used the Fuel Injector Cleaner. However, some friends told me to use Fuel System Cleaner instead of it. Cause their functions and results are so different.
Do you guys have any ideas?

>>>Tire noise plus shocks noise is called "Road noise",
   which usually come when you are on high speed. I am
   sure that tire noise does not come from tire at low
   speed. If u really want to find if the tire making
   noise, I suggest you find a friend with same size tire
   (185/70/R14?) and swap with yours. This could be easily
   done by you and your fiend.
   
   If tires are ok, then check shocks.

>>> Yes, they are different, Feul injector cleaner is for
    injector. Fuel systemn 'TREATMENT' covers more, such
    as chamber, tank, feul line, fuel filter, intake valve,
    valve clearance, which could clean the carbon deposits
    build-up on those above parts.
   
    I suggest you to use both of them, but not at same time.
