Malays, Chinese sweep titles at Malaysian Open badminton
KUALA LUMPUR, July 4 (Xinhuanet) -- Malaysian and Chinese shuttlers made their clean sweep of five gold medals at the Malaysian Open badminton tournament which concluded in Kuantan on Sunday.
Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia won the men's singles title by beating South Korea's Park Sung Hwan 15-3, 15-12, and Choong Tan Fook and Lee Wan Wah made it a double celebration for the hosts when they defeated Indonesia's Luluk Hadiyanto and Alven Yulianto 15-12, 15-7 in the men's doubles crown.
The Chinese celebrated their golds all through their women players as both women's singles and doubles finals became internal afffairs among the Chinese.
Zhang Ning came from a game down to defeat Zhou Mi 9-11, 11-7, 11-8 for the women's singles, Gao Ling and Huang Sui defeated YangWei and Zhang Jiewen 15-7, 15-6 to win the women's doubles.
The mixed doubles also went to China as Zhang Jun and Gao Ling defeated Kim Yong Hyun and Lee Hyo Jung of South Korea 15-2, 15-11. |
